The Teachers

Our teachers are very passionate about Dance, alongside teaching, many of them are still working in the industry and always updating their training to ensure they deliver the best classes for our dancers. All Staff; Volunteers, Teachers and Student Teachers are DBS Checked.

We are forever learning from each other at 4FS/Studio 4 and always want to thrive to do better, learn more and be the best we can be.

Alice Walker

As an accomplished urban dancer, trained in, Waacking, House, Hip-hop, Commercial dance and Contemporary, Alice has worked as a choreographer/teacher, based in London 2010-2012 and across Cornwall since the age of 16, Initially on community based projects and now in Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, College Courses as a guest lecturer and for private dance schools and organisations.

​

Alice studied a national diploma in Dance at college level and has a BA Honours Degree in Dance: Urban practice. The Course was involved 3 years of intense training in Urban Dance but also involved learning various dance styles from across the World including: Capoeira, Locking, bharatanatyam alongside traditional ballet and contemporary Techniques.

​

Alice has competed and performed in Urban dance since an early age internationally and across the UK performing at places that include the London Palladium, Barcelona and her biggest performance highlight the Paralympic opening ceremony.

​

Alice has always had a huge passion for teaching and choreographing, and strongly believes that dance can bring people together. Her passion for teaching encouraged her to set up 4FS/Studio 4 voluntary with the help of the Youth service in 2008. Alice believes that dance can have such a positive impact on people’s lives, and it has been evident from all the work she has delivered with 4FS/Studio 4.

4FS/Studio 4 over the years has been working closely with Industry professionals and professional companies to ensure they can offer high-quality dance classes and opportunities. Alice is also passionate about creating career paths for all the young people she works with, and the partnership with Dance conservatoires alongside the training we offer is ensuring Young people can excel and have a Career in the performing Arts.

Jack Walker

Professional Dancer/ Teacher/ Choreographer

Classes: Teams, Advanced Commercial, Jazz, Lyrical and Musical Theatre

Jack is a graduate of the Wilkes Academy of Performing Arts. During his time there and since graduating, Jack has been lucky enough to work under the direction of Barbara Evans on several occasions, perform in Singapore, Australia and Germany. He has danced at the Brit Awards after party and spent time in Australia working for P&O cruises. Although living in London, Jack is a regular teacher at Studio 4 and always loves coming back to work with the dancers in Cornwall. Jack is passionate about sharing his knowledge and inspiring other young dancers. He is still currently working as a professional artist in the industry, bringing back such a fresh energy every time he comes to teach at Studio 4 in Cornwall.

Bryony Stanlake

Bryony started dancing at the age of 3 at the Weston School of Dance in Essex. On moving to Cornwall she continued her training at Capitol School of Dance, gaining her Advanced 1 Cecchetti ballet qualification. She went on to train at London Studio Centre for 3 years specialising in Musical Theatre and graduated in 2013. She performed in Cornwall with Duchy Ballet for 12 years and as a principle dancer for 4 years. She also has sung on London stages in a Whitney Houston Tribute, All Shook Up, and created the role of the Secretary in The Artist. She played the part of Essie in a performance of the musical Parade at the Pleasance Theatre, London and was fortunate to have the opportunity to sing and dance at the Criterion Theatre in London's West End. She has also worked in film and TV and was in the 2013 Christmas advert for DFS. Bryony is Head of technique at Studio 4 ensuring all of our students are safely reaching their true potential. 

Jan Chamberlain

Miss Jan trained at the Northern Ballet School, and went on to work on Cruise Ships travelling worldwide. Her other work includes Summer Seasons, Pantos, and she has choreographed shows here and abroad. Miss Jan leads all of our Royal academy of Dance syllabus at Studio 4. 

Ariel Born

Originally from Singapore, Ariel moved to the UK in 2009 and was introduced to the world of Streetdance and choreography.  She made TV appearances on Sky 1’s Got to Dance with her former crew Beat Breakers.  In 2017, she was hand-picked by world renowned Choreographer Brian Friedman to be part of his mentor programme for her choreography work.  She has not looked back  since and has been very sought after for her choreography for shows and workshops in the South West.

 

We have been working with Ariel for many years and our dancers love her unique choreography.

Sarah Lou

Sarah-Lou was born in Plymouth before moving to Hampshire where she began dancing at Petersfield Academy of Dance, before moving on to Laine Theatre Arts, gaining a National Diploma in Musical Theatre, TRiNITY London

Perry Johnson

Started dancing 10 years ago at the age of 18, it all began at Street factory where I learned multiple styles of hip hop and my main discipline was breakin’, 
I performed in London at rich mix centre in 2012 for frantic assembly as part of their ignition company. Carried on working for frantic assembly each following year and then was trained up as a frantic practitioner in 2015 which has led me to work for them nationally and internationally, directing residencies and leading theatre workshops in the likes of Singapore, Malaysia, China, honk Kong, Norway, and Australia. Enrolled into city college Plymouth in 2013 to study dance and was awarded a BTEC level 3 extended diploma and also completed a BTEC level 4 HNC in dance. The workshop will be a fusion of all my experience in hip-hop and contemporary fused together.
